Good evening.
We were not able to attend the meeting on the subject which was held in Brinnon tonight, but would like to thank the two Commissioners who took the time to hear our concerns.
We are residents and property owners in Brinnon and strongly oppose the idea of a county wide tax for a pool in Port Townsend.
Brinnon is such a small community - we have to make do with what we have (or don't have). Our kids have to travel to Quilcene for middle and high school; law enforcement is scarce;
we have no medical facilities. These are monetary burdens - the travel expenses for kids to the schools - the cost of replacement or damage from vandalism or theft - the expense to
reach medical facilities.
In the cold dark winter it's not safe to drive the long distance to Port Townsend, so usage by Brinnon residents would be greatly reduced. Do any of you drive from Brinnon to Port Townsend
regularly? Try it during the winter months when the roads are dangerous. Why would we risk going to the Port Townsend pool?
Some argue that Port Townsend offers shopping, dining and medical services. So does Silverdale and with more options. We can get pool time there at the YMCA. Brinnon residents have
learned how to manage their time and plan their trips.
Brinnon doesn't have the luxuries or conveniences which Port Townsend residents enjoy.
Why would we be forced to buy them more?!?
Please don't tax the entire county for a localized service.
I am not expecting a reply. I just want my opinion heard and taken into consideration.
