SUBJECT: ADVISORY BOARD RESIGNATION re: Jefferson County Civil Service
Commission; Dennis Cowan
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
On October 24, 2023, Civil Service Commission Member Dennis Cowan submitted an email resigning from
the Civil Service Commission.
ANALYSIS:
An email was received from Dennis Cowan resigning from the Civil Service Commission after serving on
the Commission since May 16, 2005. An advertisement for the vacancy will be published in the Port
Townsend/Jefferson County Leader on Wednesday,November 29, 2023. Letters of interest submitted by
individuals who want to fill the vacancy will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)
for consideration. If more than one letter of interest is received, interviews with all the individuals who
submit a letter will be scheduled with the BOCC, at a future meeting, to be considered for possible
appointment to the Civil Service Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Accept the resignation of Dennis Cowan and sign a letter thanking him for his many years of service.
