Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. To all our County Commissioners. I disclose at the outset that I would swim more frequently if our pool were open a wider range of hours. As it is, I go swim as frequently as my work schedule allows. I personally really value swimming laps as a great form of healthy exercise. That said, I fully support the plans to build a new pool complex in our County. With water surrounding us on multiple sides of the Quimper Peninsula, I think it is more than critically important that children who grow up here are encouraged to learn to swim. With the maritime industry also such a strong component of our economy, adults, too, need to be competent swimmers. With Jefferson Healthcare being our rural regional hospital wanting to promote healthy living and lifestyles, it is imperative for local folks, and our aging population in particular, to have year round access to aerobic exercise and a new swimming pool is the perfect type of exercise for that year round accessibility. I am sad when I see the No Pool Tax signs around town. I do understand that there are many local folks who live well under a median income and making higher payments for the costs of a new aquatic center would be a burden to many, I nonetheless hope that the group of “aquatic center partners will be able to manifest the financial support that is necessary to replace our current swimming pool, given how close it is to breakdown and becoming not maintainable. Thank you for any support you can lend to the plans for a new aquatic center here. With much appreciation, Judith Alexander
