TO SELL SURPLUS )
COUNTY PROPERTY )
RESOLUTION NO. 46-06
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County Commissioners of Jefferson County to dispose
of surplus property; and
WHEREAS, the Central Services Department has indicated a need to dispose of those
items on the list of surplus equipment attached to this resolution, for public auction to be held on
September 16, 2006 and
WHEREAS, the requirement of RCW 36.34.020 that an intention to declare surplus be
published with a Notice of Public Hearing regarding the disposal of any County property has
been met and the public hearing held on August 21, 2006 at 10:05 a.m,; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners heard no objection to the declaration of these items as
surplus.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, by the Commissioners of Jefferson County
that they make a finding and determination as required by RCW 36.34.050 to declare the
particularly described property as surplus and allow the Treasurer to proceed with the disposition
of said surplus items.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ON THE INTENTION OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
TO SELL SURPLUS COUNTY PROPERTY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners
will hold a public hearing on the 21 st day of August, 2006 at 10:05 a.m. in the County
Commissioner's Chambers, Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port
Townsend, Washington, for the purpose of declaring their intention to dispose of surplus
County property, partially described as follows:
Equipment: (i.e. Several Automobiles, vans, flatbed, graders, dump trucks, various
office items)
Your views for or against the sale of this surplus real property are invited by attendance,
representation, or letter.
APPROVED this 24th, day of July, 2006.

Calendar for Jefferson County Surplus Auction
1. Commissioners sign Notice of Intention to Sell
(July 24, 2006 consent agenda)
2. Commissioners set Hearing date to declare Surplus Property
3. Send both notices via Port Townsend Leader Legals (RCW 36.34.020)
(August 9th & August 16th)
4. Post notices in Courthouse and Treasurer's Office (RCW 36.34.030)
5. Hearing Date (at least 10 days after publication) (RCW 36.34.040)
(August 21, 2006)
6. Notice of Sale - Treasurer must publish notice once a week for 2
successive weeks. Notice and date of first publication at least 10 days
prior to sale date with list of items for sale with time and date. (RCW
36.34.090)
(August 30th & September 6th, 2006)
7. Within three days after the hearing a determination is made and it
becomes a matter of record. (Nothing can be changed or added once the
Commissioners declare items surplus.) (RCW 36.34.050)
8. Check with Public Works to be sure they have all the titles to various
vehicles listed on sale. Give to the auction company the day of the sale.
Also you will need weight slips on all vehicles made available to the
auction service before the sale.
9. Auction service charges and pays t~e sales tax on items to the state.
