Looking back over the past twelve months, it is incredible to reflect on all the major milestones and victories we celebrated together for the health of our region's wild salmon, orcas, and their ecosystems. Here are just a few examples of what your support made possible. Through the Our Sound, Our Salmon <https://default.salsalabs.org/Tb6d5a98f-d8ae-47a9-a476-72d75c6a6fb1/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3> campaign, we successfully advocated for a new executive order permanently ending commercial net pen aquaculture in Washington marine waters. Throughout 2023, we monitored as Cooke Aquaculture removed every farmed fish, net pen, and anchor from Puget Sound, ending 40 years of daily rampant pollution and beginning the largest passive restoration project in Washington's history. Earlier this year, we celebrated a major environmental legal victory <https://default.salsalabs.org/T1e25092b-41c3-47dd-87dc-87aeffbcb8be/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3> in Wild Fish Conservancy's lawsuit to protect critically endangered Southern Resident killer whales and depressed Chinook populations from rivers throughout the Pacific coast. A federal court agreed the government seriously violated environmental law by authorizing commercial overharvest of Chinook that is pushing both species toward extinction. This challenge, now under appeal in the 9th circuit, is on track to halt this harmful commercial harvest, providing a major, critically-needed increase in prey availability for the malnourished Southern Resident population and allowing wild Chinook to return to rivers throughout Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. Also this year, with your support, our talented and dedicated field staff advanced over 40 habitat restoration, protection, and assessment projects in watersheds throughout Washington in partnership with local landowners, Tribal Nations, government agencies, and others. None of this success would be possible without your support. It's your investment in our work that makes it possible for Wild Fish Conservancy to effectively take on the biggest and most critical issues facing wild fish and to bring forward creative solutions that are helping to restore wild salmon and steelhead at a coastwide scale. We hope you'll consider making a donation during Giving Tuesday and our year end giving campaign to support this work in coming year. <https://default.salsalabs.org/T264e2edf-9e82-48b7-aec8-5202eafa 1565/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3> <https://default.salsalabs.org/Ta17f3754-8411-4f8c-a203-caa2fdd1d18e/e1f9ba72-dc83-4f20-90cd-07d9d1ee41b3> Thank you for all you make possible!
