HomeMy WebLinkAbout112923 RE_ KPTZ Listener Questions for Monday November 6_ 2023 BOCC Health Update (0003)I think you absolutely should participate in that important discussion. I am fine with moving your update to 12/11. I also saw that the first Monday of 2024 is 1/1 which is a holiday. I think we then move to Tuesday but will let Carolyn or Mark confirm. I am copying them here. * Heidi From: Allison Berry <ABerry@co.jefferson.wa.us> Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2023 5:19 PM To: Lynn Sorensen <passages2007@yahoo.com>; allison.berry@clallamcountywa.gov; Willie Bence <WBence@co.jefferson.wa.us>; Greg Brotherton <GBrotherton@co.jefferson.wa.us>; Kate Dean <KDean@co.jefferso n.wa.us>; Heidi Eisenhour <HEisenhour@co.jefferson.wa.us>; jeffbocc <jeffbocc@co.jefferson.wa.us>; KPTZ E TEAM <eteam@kptz.org>; Chris Bricker <ChrisBricker@kptz.org>; Jim Burke <jim@kptz.org> Subject: RE: KPTZ Listener Questions for Monday November 6, 2023 BOCC Health Update Hi team, I’ve been invited to speak on the Governor’s panel on fentanyl and overdoses in the state on Monday December 4th at 10am. I think this is important enough material that I should go even though it conflicts with our normal 1st Monday public health update. Would it be possible to move the update to the second Monday in December? Or should we meet back next month? Sorry for the late notice – I just received the invitation today. Thanks all for all you do, and I hope your holidays are off to a good start, Allison Berry, MD MPH (she/they) Health Officer for Clallam and Jefferson Counties aberry@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:aberry@co.jefferson.wa.us> (360) 460-1188 From: Lynn Sorensen <passages2007@yahoo.com <mailto:passages2007@yahoo.com> > Sent: Friday, November 3, 2023 1:00 PM To: allison.berry@clallamcountywa.gov <mailto:allison.berry@clallamcountywa.gov> ; Allison Berry <ABerry@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:ABerry@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; Willie Bence <WBence@co.jefferson.wa. us <mailto:WBence@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; Greg Brotherton <GBrotherton@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:GBrotherton@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; Kate Dean <KDean@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:KDean@co.jefferson.wa.u s> >; Heidi Eisenhour <HEisenhour@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:HEisenhour@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; jeffbocc <jeffbocc@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:jeffbocc@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; KPTZ E TEAM <eteam@kptz.org <mailto:eteam@kptz.org> >; Chris Bricker <ChrisBricker@kptz.org <mailto:ChrisBricker@kptz.org> >; Jim Burke <jim@kptz.org <mailto:jim@kptz.org> > Subject: KPTZ Listener Questions for Monday November 6, 2023 BOCC Health Update ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Greetings County Commissioners, Dr Allison Berry, and Willie Bence, The KPTZ listeners sent in the following questions over the past month for the Monday, November 6, 2023 BOCC Health Update. Also included is a question for Willie Bence from the October 2nd BOCC health briefing but he was not present on that day. Thank you, Lynn Sorensen KPTZ Virus Watch Team Questions for Dr Allison Berry: 1. I got a Covid booster on a Tuesday. That Friday, I tested positive for Covid. Could the positivity be a result of the booster? Or does it even matter? Positive is positive??? 2. How long after having covid do you have to wait to get booster? 3. I applied for free at home Covid tests and never received them. Is there a way to tell them that? 4. Why doesn't the FDA/CDC recommend more than one COVID vaccine annually? Help me make sense of these related questions: -Six months after getting a Covid is natural immunity superior to vaccine-induced immunity? Wouldn't one get that from a semi-annual booster shot? -Does the annual shot result in lower levels of community transmission than a semi-annual shot would? -Is the risk of developing long Covid symptoms from a breakthrough case lower than it would be from getting a booster shot in six months? Question for Willie Bence: 1. I know we have tsunami sirens along our coast in Jefferson County but would DEM consider other sirens or tones to alert the community of say, a wild fire, that threatened residential areas in the PT area? Or perhaps a tone that when sounded would get people to tune into our community emergency broadcast station KPTZ for more information?
