A Resolution Adopting a Fee Schedule for the —
County Sheriff RESOLUTION NO. 3_
WHEREAS, Jefferson County is a political subdivision of the state of Washington as
provided by Title 36 RCW and the Washington State Constitution Article 11, and may impose fees
to recoup the costs of providing services to the public; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners may impose fees charged by the County
Sheriff to implement the code and statutory duties; and,
WHEREAS, Section 3.80.020 of the Jefferson County Code ("JCC") authorizes the
County Sheriff to request adoption of its fee schedule by resolution; and,
WHEREAS, the new fee schedule adopted does not change fees; and
WHEREAS, the proposed changes eliminate County Sheriff fees from the chapter 3.70
JCC and Appendix Fee Schedules, and allow adoption of new fees by resolution is consistent with
this ordinance and chapter 3.80 of the Jefferson County Code.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF JEFFERSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The 2023 County Sheriff Fee Schedule attached in the Appendix is hereby adopted.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption by the Board of County
Commissioners.

APPENDIX
2023 FEE SCHEDULE FOR THE COUNTY SHERIFF
I. Fees Authorized Pursuant to JCC 3.70.010.
Fees authorized pursuant to JCC 3.70.010 are established as follows:
(1) For service of each summons and complaint, notice and complaint, summons and petition,
and notice of small claim on one defendant at any location, $30.00, and on two or more
defendants at the same residence, $35.00:
(2) For making a return, $10.00 for each return of service:
(3) For levying each writ of attachment or writ of execution upon real or personal property,
$60.00 per hour;
(4) For filing copy of writ of attachment, order of sale or writ of execution with the auditor, the
actual cost of the auditor's filing fee;
(5) For processing and serving writ of possession or restitution when enforcement is not
necessary (whether due to cancellation or due to compliance by the occupants), including the
cost of preparing and serving or posting all notices generated by the sheriffs office, $40.00,
(6) For processing and serving writ of possession or restitution with enforcement, including the
cost of preparing and posting or serving all notices generated by the sheriff s office, $80.00. plus
$60.00 for each hour after one hour for each deputy required to be present;
(7) For serving an arrest warrant in any action or proceeding, $50.00;
(8) For executing any other writ or process in a civil action or proceeding, $60.00 per hour;
(9) For making a deed to lands sold upon execution or order of sale or other decree of the court,
to be paid by the purchaser, $50.00;
(10) For making copies of papers when sufficient copies are not furnished to the sheriff, or when
additional copies of notices are needed in the course of enforcing a civil court order to ensure all
parties receive service, $1.00 per printed page:
(1 1) For service of any other document and supporting papers for which no other fee is provided
herein, $30.00;
12) For posting a notice of sale or postponement, $15.00 per posting;
(13) For certificate or bill of sale of property, or certificate of redemption, $50.00;
(14) For conducting a sale of property, $60.00 per hour spent at the sheriff s sale, with a
minimum charge of one hour;
(15) For preparing notice of levy, notice of sale, or notice to publisher, or any other notice for
which no other fee is provided herein, $10.00;
(16) For preparing affidavit of posting or affidavit of mailing, $10.00;
(17) For fingerprinting for noncriminal purposes, $15.00 for each person for up to two sets.
$5.00 for each additional set;
(18) For the reproduction of audio, visual, or photographic material, to include magnetic
microfilming, the actual cost including personnel time;
(19) For cancellations of service of process, other than writs or court orders directed to the
sheriff, a $10.00 cancellation fee, in addition to all other fees provided herein;
(20) For cancellations, prior to levy, of writs of attachment, writs of execution, or orders of sale,
whether on real or personal property, a $50.00 cancellation fee. in addition to all other fees
provided herein;
(21) For cancellations, after levy, of writs of attachment, writs of execution, or orders of sale.
whether on real or personal property, a $155.00 cancellation fee, in addition to all other fees
provided herein,
(22) For cancellations on services of all other writs and court orders directed to the sheriff
(except writs of restitution or writs of possession), a $20.00 cancellation fee, in addition to all
other fees provided herein,
(23) For civil standby services scheduled through the civil office.
