There is no intention of a secret meeting strategy, so I’m sorry if that’s how it comes off. We’ve had a good deal of open, transparent, and robust public engagement over the past year
of this current effort and needed a forum beyond open houses, city council and BOCC meetings, etc. for agencies to regularly connect and steer the effort. That’s not a new approach
to this or other projects. All that said, I do take your point that it hasn’t met your expectations and I appreciate the feedback since the goal is maximum engagement and inclusion.
And more importantly, I wholeheartedly agree with you that we should be keeping our eyes and ears open to any and all feedback, concerns, new ideas, and intel. And yes, I’m in agreement
in your prediction that I disagree with you that I/we are not welcoming better intel. In fact, I disagree/agree very much! 😊
I know we’re all quite tense about what’s at stake here, precisely because we care a great deal about the outcome. I invite you to bring in a spirit of trust, collaboration, and assumption
of positive intent in how we work together so we have the best possible chance for success.

Thank you for the note. I did leave Carrie a voicemail yesterday morning and received her email later in the day, for which I am grateful.
A good first step for the steering committee would be to open up to public dialog. This secret meeting strategy is not serving you well and you have become siloed, unreceptive to community
feedback, granted improper weighing to a very narrow polling data set, and taken an approach which is doomed to failure. As I explained to you yesterday, I believe this process runs
the risk of significant backlash from the voters which could further hamper efforts to bring a pool to the county. I know you disagree, but I think you need better intel than you are
currently welcoming.
I remain hopeful that this process will be corrected. That is the only way we can possibly see this pool come to fruition in our lifetimes.
