As a newer (5year) resident of PT, I have to say I was shocked at the state of the decrepit community pool the one time I ventured in there! My buddy Brennan, a Master swimmer/teacher
who swims at community pools all over the world, says the current PT pool is the worst he’s experienced! I am so glad there is a serious move afoot to create a great Aquatics Center
in the near future. Although there appear to be many nay-sayers and outright grouchy types who want all folk to be taught to swim by being ‘thrown from boat’ in Admiralty Inlet, and
who are up in arms about paying for a service they don’t ‘use’ (hello, roads, libraries, etc!), they are always the most vocal minority. I want to pay for amenities that make a great
town, and so does everyone I know. The future looms, with many more people moving to this area. Housing and an Aquatics Center are part of a visionary equation that will draw families,
strengthen schools, etc. Pools are great equalizers: it is our civic duty to enable all citizens the right to learn to swim when living on a peninsula! All those blathering yellers
will be parading up front when the first kid who trained at the new pool is off to the Olympics! If you build it, good will come!
