To Jefferson County Board of Directors Thank you for being our voice. Stop supporting such a specious project.
Why is a swimming pool even given this level of participation or value. A better focus would be the reinstatement of, and a positive standing for, community values such as funding our
sheriff’s department with increased law enforcement assured. Elected folk have constituents. You represent our interests. Jefferson county has a greater need than this. You are
our voice. Vote NO on the issue.

Yes, it's the holiday season and we are busy!
But please, take a couple minutes to read and respond.
The Aquatic Coalition is the group pushing for the very pricey proposed Port
Townsend Aquatic Center that they want all county residents to pay for. They are urging their supporters to do a letter writing campaign to the commissioners to advance the project by
getting it on the ballot. If commissioners agree, a special election in April would cost tax payers about another $110,000. Although it would undoubtedly fail it would be another huge
waste of our money and result again in time and energy like we spent 7 years ago to defeat Prop 1! One commissioner is totally on board (Kate Dean), and the two other commissioners
are listening but somewhat on the fence. Your previous emails and letters gave these two commissioners pause. However they are getting lots of pressure from this very small group.
The Aquatic Coalition consists primarily of individuals that have a special interest in getting this pool built in Port Townsend. Right now approximately 212 people per month regularly
use the pool which represents .6% of our county population, that's less than 1%! Even if a new pool increased usage 100 times that would still be 6 per 100 residents using the pool
and 94% of the population would be paying for a pool they would not be using.
The respected local contractor who built the P. T. Aero Museum and the Port's administrative offices has analyzed the proposed construction cost. He concludes it will see $12 to $13
million in cost overruns, which taxpayers will have to cover, likely through an additional property taxes.
The Aquatic Coalition provided a template statement to copy and paste to make it really easy for their supporters to email commissioners. We ask only that YOU write an email, or just
state in one or two sentences that you oppose the pool in Port Townsend as planned, or just restate your last email if you sent one.
Although some of us may not be completely opposed to a public pool in Jefferson County, we want further consideration for a much less costly version and in mid-county where land is available
and would be more accessible to families and growth; and where new infrastructure has now made it possible. If the commissioners vote now to move forward to a vote it would not give
consideration for any other options. So please write commissioners below to oppose the current pool plan and urge other neighbors and family to do the same.
