A variance ,would be required because the Northeast corner of the building would be 14 feet from the county road . The Southeast corner is 22 feet from the road . The asymmetry is present because of the non parallel lines of the lot , and the proposed structure is placed parallel to the existing garage , as close to it as possible , and as far from the road as possible . The road itself , (Old Ferry Road) is now seldom used except by those of us who live there , as it ends blindly only 100 yards further on , and we own the property to the end on our side . The paved part of the road is as least 25 feet away , up a hill and over a hedge from the proposed building , which led us to believe that we were outside the 20 foot limit , which resulted in the construction of the foundation forms , now completed , awaiting your hoped for approval to be followed quickly by concrete .
