Dear Commissioner Brotherton: I would like to go on record that I am a Jefferson County voter who is very opposed to the Aquatic Center in Port Townsend as proposed and pushed by the Aquatic Coalition. I am confident that if you and the other BoCC members voted to advance it and it goes on the ballot it would go down to a huge defeat and waste $110,000 in taxpayer money for a special election. And you would be held responsible for this as well. Our money is precious to us and there are so many other needs for this money in our county. I was not aware of this proposed aquatic center until late in this process and as I spoke to neighbors, friends and other associates, they agreed that they were also not aware. Granted, in an effort to cut costs, I cancelled and don’t buy the Leader. There is a very small group of proponents that have a special interests and who represent themselves as being a huge majority; but I can assure you they are not. I would urge you to not go forward to put this on the ballot. It is a bad plan that is too costly for our county of 34,000. If you want taxpayers in this county to support a public pool, develop a much more affordable plan and put it in mid-county where it will benefit the most people. We feel this is being pushed on us and rushed by the Aquatic Coalition. Maybe it’s felt if they rush it before most can be informed there will be less voters to try to stop or change it. Sincerely, Linda Hisey Dist. 2, Jefferson Co. Resident 360 379-6466
