Dear County Commissioners:
As a senior citizen on a fixed income living outside of Port Townsend, I would not in all probability be using an aquatic center, nor would I be able to afford an increase in my property
taxes to fund such an endeavor. As I understand it, there are less than 1% of the population in Jefferson County who are utilizing the current pool. Every time I drive around Port Townsend
I can’t help but notice the pothole riddled streets. I had friends in from out of state recently and while touring around town, they commented on the amount of potholes. Besides pothole,
there are many other pressing issues that need attention in Port Townsend above and beyond building a multi-million dollar aquatic park. I am totally against allocating any taxpayer
funds towards building such an aquatic park and many of my friends and neighbors are against it as well. Please focus on the needs of the entire community, not the wants of a few special
interest groups.
