Would it be possible for you to send a quick note over to DCD, asking them to attend to their review of the approved Conservation Futures funding? Several extremely worthwhile conservation easement projects are in suspended animation right now because of delays in getting a DCD sign-off. One of the projects in District 3 is particularly fragile, so time is of the essence. 2. When the County reviews the Comp Plan in 2024, I hope you will consider urging a zoning change in Port-owned lands near the airport from rural residential to industrial/commercial. These lands are already in a high-noise and high-activity zone, and would be ideal for members of the newly formed Jefferson Timber Collective to develop as sites for local wood processing and sale. A zoning change would create a great opportunity for the Port to support efforts to stop exporting Jefferson County timber out of county, state, and country and keep the logs, jobs, and income in the local community, where they belong.
