Hello Jefferson County colleagues,
I’m a senior planner with Thurston Regional Planning Council in Olympia. One of our partners recently received a grant to develop a Community Wildfire Protection Plan for Thurston County
communities. I have been communicating with Jennifer Coe at Washington Dept. of Natural Resources about CWPPs. Jennifer shared that Jefferson County is working on a plan and provided
me your email addresses. I hope my message arrives reaches someone who could be available to discuss your planning process.
Jennifer shared that you have contracted with a consultant (SWCA Environmental Consultants – I believe) to assist your process. I’d like to learn about the type of services they may
be performing for you to help us consider our course of action in developing our project scope. One area that I believe we could use some expertise is helping us develop a tool to identify
areas within our communities that are most at risk to wildfire. We need to evaluate where we should focus and prioritize our mitigation strategies.
I will appreciate any insights that you may be able to offer us as we move forward. Please let me know if someone is available for a 15-20 minute conversation.
