Dear local public officials: The Elwha Legacy Forests Coalition is honored to hosting Dr. Dominick Dellasala in Port Angeles for a special presentation on the value of our older forests and the need to protect them. Dr. Dellasala, a world-renowned scientist as well as a great communicator, is sure to give an enlightening presentation. "Values of Our Older Forests" -- Dr. Dominick DellaSala SUNDAY, DEC. 17 | 6-7:30 PM | Sons of Norway Scandia Hall, 131 W. 5th St., Port Angeles There will also be a presentation about the City of Port Angeles’ application for protection of 3000 acres of older forest in the Elwha watershed, under the state Department of Natural Resources’ Trust Land Transfer program–link here <https://elwhalegacyforests.org/city-of-port-angeles-elwha-watershed-protection-project/> . Dr. DellaSala is Chief Scientist at Wild Heritage <http://www.wild-heritage.org/> , and former President of the Society for Conservation Biology, North America Section <http://www.conbio.org/> . He is an internationally renowned author of over 300 science papers on forest and fire ecology, conservation biology, endangered species management, and landscape ecology. He has appeared in National Geographic, Science Magazine, Scientific American, Time, NY Times, USA Today, Jim Lehrer News Hour, CNN, MSNBC, “Living on Earth (NPR),” several PBS documentaries and even Fox News! Dominick has served on numerous committees, including White House Council task forces on forests. Dominick is motivated by his work to leave a living planet for his daughters, grandkids and all those that follow.
