The Board of Equalization held a hearing on March 9, 2023.
The law requires that the Board of Equalization presume the Assessor's valuation to be correct unless the
appellant presents clear, cogent and convincing evidence to the contrary. After thoughtful consideration
the Board finds that the Appellant presented evidence the property assessment has risen 245% since
purchased in 2017. The Assessor's Representative noted that while the abrupt rise in the assessment may
seem unreasonable, the market value of the property was fairly established by recent sales data. The
current assessment reflects an increase of only 57% since it's purchase on 2017. The Assessor's
Representative suggested an adjusted valuation of$725,000.
Chairman Gillette moved to overrule the Assessor's original valuation and accepts the Assessor's
suggested Valuation of$725,000 ($150,000 for the land and $575,000 for the improvements). Member
Raab seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. (See also minutes of March 9, 2023)
