I am writing to express my support for building a new aquatic center and to encourage you to support the recommendations presented to the BOCC in the final report developed by the Healthier
Together Aquatic Center project partners.
Thank you for voting to move forward with the project feasibility study so the public will have unbiased information to weigh the merits of this proposal and ultimately, I hope you will
support allowing the voters in Jefferson County to decide if they want a new pool through the proposed sales tax vote in April. I expect the financial feasibility study will show that
keeping the facility on the Mountain View property for the cost of $1/year to the Port Townsend School District is less expensive than purchasing property elsewhere.
I understand the concerns about the location not being centrally located within the county. I would happily drive to Port Hadlock to use the facility. But I wonder if sighting the
Aquatic Center there would take away the new sewage treatment capacity and real estate that could better be used to build affordable housing?
