Parks Advisory Board: Establishing & Duties
• Assists in development of programs and policies concerning Jeff Co parks
• Reviews and comments on proposed rules, policies, or ordinances prior to adoption by the
Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)
• Oversees development and any revisions and amendments to Jeff Co Parks, Recreation,
Open Space and Trails Comprehensive Plan (PROS+Trails Plan)
• May research, report on, or make recommendations on Parks & Rec issues.
• Reports on items submitted to it within 40 days or as set by BOCC
• Annually:
o Reports progress to BOCC
o Hosts a volunteer appreciation event
o Tours and assesses Jefferson County parks
• Robert’s Rules of Order – are a guide, not a strict requirement
o A consensus process has also been used for difficult votes

• Encouraging board members to take initiative and get involved

• Staff will take notes and create a summary of the workshop to be included with the minutes
