U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer has announced a $1 million allocation of new federal funding from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for two economic development projects
on the Olympic Peninsula. This funding is granted under the Recompete Pilot Program, legislation authored by Rep. Kilmer, designed to address ongoing economic challenges and foster
sustained, holistic economic development and employment opportunities.

Getting Personal Protection Equipment to Farmers
In 2023, Washington State University Extension (WSU) secured a substantial grant from the Washington State Department of Agriculture to provide support to specialty crop producers, packers,
and workers in Washington. The grant, exceeding $150,000, facilitated the distribution of COVID-19 relief supplies to regional farms. These supplies included handwashing stations and
related items, air quality enhancements (air filters), sanitizers for both hands and surfaces, eye protection (goggles), hand protection (gloves), and face protection (masks and respirators).
The initiative reached over 25 farms in Jefferson, 20 farms in Clallam, and 35 farms in Kitsap, contributing significantly to the safety and well-being of agricultural communities in
the region.
