Please do not subsidize the Port’s Eco Industrial Park at the Jefferson County Airport.
Development of the Port’s industrial lands is the responsibility of the Port and not of the County.
Indeed, in 2019 the Port asked for and the people approved an Industrial Development District tax.
That IDD tax will generate over $15 million over 20 years or less, according to the Port. And by law, the amounts raised by the levy can only be spent on capital infrastructure projects.
The Port’s IDD taxes should be used for the development of the Port’s Eco-Industrial Park, not County taxes.
