School Based Health Center Capital Project for SBHC at Blue Heron Middle School/OCEAN campus
To Whom it may concern,
The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners(BOCC) is very pleased to support Jefferson County Public
Health's proposal for capital funding to remodel Blue Heron Middle/OCEAN school campus in preparation for
opening a School Based Health Center (SBHC) proposed for the 2024-2025 school year.
The BOCC shares Jefferson County Public Health's mission to increase health equity and reduce health-related
barriers to academic success.Jefferson County Public Health has been operating a SBHC at the Port Townsend
High School since 2008. We are in full support of opening a SBHC at the Middle School campus.This effort and
decision were made after the community received feedback from a number of our high school students, who
voiced concerns regarding health care needs of students in Middle School and the need of School Based Health
Center services accessible to these students.The BOCC supports Jefferson County Public Health in their
continued work providing medical and mental health services for youth in our community.
Thank you for your consideration of this application. We are grateful for this opportunity to ensure that our
students are healthy and achieving at their fullest potential.
