A Level I Assessment was conducted on February 13,2007 and the delineation was conducted on February 19,2007. The goal of the wetland delineation was to define the wetland edges, analyze wetland categories, and determine associated buffers that would restrict the placement of a single family residence. Description of Site . Legal Description: Parcel #901 143 007, Section 14 Township 29N Range 1 W . Location: 756 Center Road, Chimacum Jefferson County W A . Hydric Soils: Bm and Bk Belfast silt and clay loam Sh and Sm Semiahmoo muck (listed as on Jefferson County Hydric Soil List 1/91) . Non Hydric Soils: ere Cassolary sandy loam and Th Tisch silt loam . Slopes: 0 to 15 percent A map of the site location and mapped soils is included in the Appendix (Sheet #1). The Baird property is a 50 acre parcel approximately 1 mile south of SR19 on Center Road. The majority of the acreage is in pasture within the low-lying areas of Chimacum Valley. The pasture is actively grazed by horses. A small portion of the site to the east and along Center Road is sparsely wooded and is upslope from the valley. This is the proposed area for the home site and the location where a well and septic system have recently been installed. The parcel is bordered by farmland to the north and south and Chimacum Creek which defines the western boundary. Methodology Fieldwork to determine the actual wetland boundaries was conducted according to the methodology outlined in the Washington State Wetland Identification and Delineation Manual (Department of Ecology March 1997). All wetlands within Jefferson County are subject to requirements outlined in the Jefferson County Unified Development Code (UDC) dated January 1, 2001. Land use restrictions will apply to all future developments associated with this parcel. A comprehensive description of methodology used to conduct this report is included in the Appendix. Baird Wetland Delineation and Analysis Report Report File #2007-0213 1 Olympic Wetland Resources, Inc. February 2007 Background Information The following resources were consulted prior to field work for this proje9t: . Jefferson County Critical Areas Map (1995) . National Wetland Inventory Map . Aerial Photographs (Soil maps pre-I 975 and 1994,2000 and 2005 internet) . Jefferson County Unified Development Code (January 1,2001) . Soil Survey of Jefferson County (U.S. Soil Conservation Service 1975) . Washington State Wetland Identification and Delineation Manual . National List of Plant Species That Occur in Wetlands: Northwest (Region 9) "r:" The wetland associated with this parcel is large and extends off site and throughout Center Valley and is therefore evaluated as an entire system. The Jefferson County Critical Areas Maps indicate that wetland covers the majority of the parcel with only a small portion of upland along Center Road. This mapping corresponds with the National Wetlands Inventory Maps which classifies the wetland as PEMCD (palustrine, Emergent, Seasonally flooded, well drained). Wetland Delineation Findings General Wetland Conditions The wetland is defined by topography, soils and hydrology. The entire site is within actively grazed pasture and there was very minimal vegetation evaluate during this delineation. The edge was determined when hydrology and wetland soils were encountered. The upland areas were defined by a slight rise in elevation from the valley floor and the lack of hydrology in the soil test pits at 16 inches down. The wetland's edges were flagged with orange plastic ribbon labeled "Wetland Boundary," at points 30 to 40 feet apart within the open pasture. Flagging is labeled with alphanumeric codes (AI through A4). The data point locations, wetland edges, and buffers are indicated on the Wetland Boundary Map in the Appendix (Sheet #2). Soils Many bands of soils are listed for this large parcel. Soils along Chimacum Creek are Bm Belfast silt loam Sh Semiahmoo muck. Findings within the wetland soil test pits corresponded closely with the dark brown soil colors and textures described for these hydric soils. Upland soil pits corresponded with the cre Cassolary sandy loam soil description Soils in Data Point I (DP #1) were clearly hydric. A dark, organic soil was found with a low chroma (MunselllOYR 2/2) with very abundant mottles (IOYR 4/6). Soils were saturated at the below the surface and free water was present to within fifteen inches of the surface. This soil was very similar to that described as Semiahmoo muck in the Jefferson County Soil Survey.
