When employees in public facing workplaces learn how to spot the indicators of human trafficking, they can help report suspicious activities, and take the necessary actions to help survivors. Together this National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, let’s take some time to learn more about the issue of human trafficking and the unique ways that employers can get involved to be a part of the solution. In public facing workplaces, human trafficking often operates undetected, but its prevalence is more pronounced than we may realize. The restaurant and hospitality industry are no exception. Baristas, servers, managers, and bartenders have the unique opportunity to recognize the signs of human trafficking and ask someone if they need help. Raising awareness is often the first step in combating human trafficking, so people know the signs and steps to safely intervene. This Human Trafficking Awareness Month, we're thrilled to highlight a business making a difference in raising awareness about this critical issue within our communities. At Bellden Cafe <https://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=102825893&msgid=323755&act=YUK7&c=1757883&pid=701378&destination=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.belldencafe.com%2F&cf=16652&v=02f627224ae4c2a5f9c40be9d25d9d8e51f69c480 92b632b690455ef59ea1b42> , located in Bellevue, Washington, when their customers purchase a Wellness Box, there is a unique twist. While ports serve as vital hubs for trade and commerce, they also play a crucial role in helping trafficking victims. When ships dock at seaports, it is often the only chance human trafficking victims have to escape their exploiters and receive the help they require.
