Jefferson County Civil Service Commission

Call to Order: Chair Bob Gebo called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m. in the presence of Member
Ken Przygocki, Chief Examiner Steve Richmond, and Secretary Kristen Bennett.
Approval of Minutes: Member Przygocki moved to approve the regular meeting minutes of August
29, 2023, as presented. Chair Gebo seconded the Motion. The Motion carried.
Public Comment: No comments received.
Old Business: Report and review Sheriff’s Office Administrative Staff Testing: Secretary Bennett
updated the Commission on the status of the Sheriff’s Office Administrative staff recruitment. She
reported that once the position is filled a new eligibility list for Administrative Staff will need to be
established. Chief Examiner Richmond stated the advertisement for the testing will be posted in
January with possible testing occurring at the end of February, 2024 or the beginning of March,
2024.
New Business:
1. Discussion of retirement and replacement of Member Dennis Cowan: Member Dennis
Cowan’s resignation has been accepted by the County Commissioners. An advertisement for
the vacancy will run in the Port Townsend-Jefferson County Leader newspaper from
November 29, 2023 to December 6, 2023. After which time applications will be presented to
the Board of County Commissioners for consideration to appoint a new member to a term of
six years.
2. Possible cancellation of Tuesday, December 26, 2023 meeting: Member Przygocki moved to
cancel the December 26, 2023 meeting. Chair Gebo seconded the Motion. The Motion
carried.
Additional Business:
1. Civil Service Commission Meeting Schedule for 2024: Member Przygocki moved to continue
with the fourth Tuesday of the month for Civil Service Commission meeting throughout 2024.
Chair Gebo seconded the Motion. The Motion carried.
Closing Remarks: No Closing remarks.
Notice of Adjournment: Chair Gebo adjourned the regular meeting at 2:12 p.m. until the next
regular or special meeting as properly noticed.
