HomeMy WebLinkAbout011924 Shoreline Master Program- PLEASE REQUIRE A STANDARD CUP FOR ALL GEODUCK APPLICATIONS (0002)ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Dear County Commissioners, Please require the standard Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for any geoduck farming in Jefferson County. We do NOT want the shorelines of Jefferson County to look like the counties south of here. I have seen horrifying photos of shorelines filled with plastic pollution due to geoduck farming. The Jefferson County habitats must not be destroyed; they would never recover. Our shorelines include eelgrass used by crabs, herring, young salmon, shorebirds and all kinds of marine life that depend on our healthy tidelands and estuaries. Geoducks use marine nutrients essential for forage fish and marine invertebrates. Please, Commissioners, act in support of using the standard CUP. Sincerely, Wendy Feltham Port Townsend
