Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Dear County Partner, The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is conducting a status review of the Oregon vesper sparrow (Pooecetes gramineus affinis), which historically occurred in short-statured grassland and savannah habitats in western Washington, Oregon, and California, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia. Currently, the subspecies’ breeding range is limited to the States of Washington (South Puget lowlands, San Juan Island, lower Columbia River islands, and Mason County) and Oregon (Willamette, Umpqua, and Rogue Valleys). The winter range consists of lowland areas west of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, from the San Francisco Bay area through the San Joaquin Valley to coastal southern California. We are requesting information on this species to determine if listing is warranted under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.). The attached letter provides the purpose of and background for this request, a list of specific topics for which we are seeking information, and contact information for further questions and where to send information. Thank you for your continued interest in the conservation of sensitive, threatened, and endangered species. We appreciate your participation in this listing determination process.
