SUBJECT: FIREWORKS cL t S ONE F:
It is time to ban fireworks. I live in the Port Hadlock..Irondale..Chimacum area
and it sounds like a war zone on the 4th and other allowed days of fireworks.
These fireworks include illegal ones of which law enforcement chooses not to
address. I speak of mortars that rattle my windows and make ME jump. I have
friends that go to the vet to get tranquilizers for their domestic cats and dogs. My
own dogs cling to our legs and shake with fear in our laps.
I have called law enforcement (sheriffs dept) in 2020...2021...2022
2020...the dept became upset with me as they said they had more priority
issues going on. And rudely and again I say rudely hang up on me.
2021...called again on the 4th....same answer as in 2020. I went down to the
sheriffs office next day to discuss this issue. They had a young deputy come out
to speak with me. He began about how people have rights and the sooner I learn
that the better off I would be. And even if I had seen them light the illegal ones
and where it would have no consequence. He was definitely feeling his
gun...uniform and badge.
2022...Called the dept and got to speak with the sgt. Conversation went as he
did not know where these illegal fireworks were going off. I gave him the street
as to where he could go.... stop his car... roll down his window and look and listen.
He then told me I could not tell the difference in fireworks by the sound and did
not know anyone that could dismissing me as he had better things to do.
I am sure you remember the little grandpa in Port Hadlock that had his
homemade explosives go off injuring himself and his granddaughter. There are
more than one making their own explosives. One proudly admitting to law
enforcement he makes his own.
After the 4th celebration I have had to clean chunks and pieces of condensed
cardboard and expired remnants off my roof.... my vehicles.... and from my
driveway. I have never seen anyone clean up after themselves.
I would like to address the issue of wildlife. Did you know birds do not fly at night
for the fact they cant see at night. If nesting in a tree and an explosive goes off
near... their immediate action is to leave as so would yours or mine. Where do
they fly to....into another tree... a house....a wall of some sort.... directly into the
ground. In doing so do they break off a leg or two...how about wing damage....or
even worse.... a head on. ... how many concussions how about their little
eardrums. In research I found night fireworks was responsible for many bird
casualtys . And how about the possum and the raccoon...What kind of fear do
they carry. Do any of them have weak hearts....
And ...last)Y. whyare fireworks allowed in Port Hadlock....lrondale...Chimacum
and not in Port Townsend... I dont know what type of fancy wording you can give
for a reason but the bottom line... we are people just like Port Townsend
people...and should have the same immunity.... If I were to build a house in Port
Hadlock I would have t follow the same code as those building in Port Townsend.
Some say why Port Townsend is immune:
Has there been some gifting
Some promises of gifting
Some continuous gifting
Etc... etc... etc
Others around have banned fireworks.... Lets EVOLVE and follow
I do not intend any disrespect with this letter
I would like to hear a response but I do not wish to sign. I feel the issue to be
addressed would change to : Who is this guy
Where exactly does he live
What is his function
We need to research him
