Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Commissioners, Good morning, for those of you who do not know me, I am Zak Kennedy with Potts & Associates. We currently represent, or have represented, many of the State's smaller rural counties in the Legislature. I am sending you this email with a letter of support attached for HB1835 - Frontier Counties. I spoke to many of you at the WSAC reception or at the steering committee last week in Olympia, for those of you who I was unable to have an in-person conversation with, please accept my apologies and feel free to call or email me with any questions about the bill or the letter. The counties qualifying as Frontier One, and included in this email, are: Adams, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Jefferson, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Skamania, Stevens, and Wahkiakum Brief Summary of the Bill: 1) Adds definition of "frontier county" to statutes addressing economic development, excise tax, and the Department of Commerce. 2) Defines "frontier county" as a county with a population density less than 50 persons per square mile. 3) Creates two categories of frontier counties, based on population density: Frontier One counties have 20 or less persons per square mile, and Frontier Two counties have 21 to 50 persons per square mile. 4) ALL Frontier Counties are still considered Rural Counties for all other purposes We and Representative Kretz would greatly appreciate your support, please let me know if you would like to sign on to the letter as soon as possible so we can share the letter with the legislators.
