Subject: Quilcene Community Park Site Plan Briefing and Workshop
Statement of Issue: The Quilcene Skate Park Project is a group of local volunteers
who want to build a skate park in Quilcene Community Park. A conceptual site plan to
define a location for the skate park in Quilcene Community Park has been prepared.
The site plan was created in coordination with Facilities Services, Parks and
Recreation, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and the local community. The
board will have the opportunity to discuss the site plan, provide guidance, and
possibly move to support it.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Et Con's: Effective site master planning is crucial for
the future. The following new elements are also included in the plan: caretakers'
campsite, restroom facility, and a larger septic system. The plan also includes
possible changes to the building in the back currently used for foodbank storage.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: Advance coordination can reduce future costs. A
topographical base map was commissioned and completed by the Quilcene Skate Park
Project. Staff time necessary for the project is already budgeted as part of regular
duties.
Recommendation: Discuss the conceptual site plan. Provide suggestions and
direction. Consider moving to support the proposal.
