RAP PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS STUDY SURVEY The County Road Administration Board needs your input! We are working on a study to look at the effectiveness of our primary grant program – the Rural Arterial Program (RAP), which was created to fund capital improvements to rural arterial and collector roads and bridges. Not only do we want to hear your opinion on the current program, but we also want to know what your capital road and bridge needs are and whether they are being met by current state and federal grant programs. We've Invested Nearly $1 Billion in Roads In its 40 years , the program has invested over $684 million in county roads and bridges and has committed $165 million to future projects. This month we also issued a new $70 million call for projects. However, as our investments in the state’s county road system nears the $1 billion mark, the program itself has remained largely unchanged. We're Adapting for the Needs of Today AND Tomorrow The demographics and needs of rural county road systems have changed significantly over the last 40 years, with an 85% increase in the state population. We want to capture those changes and how CRAB can address those needs through its existing grant program or through new programs. The results from this survey are critical at CRAB as we work with our county partners and other stakeholders to improve the grant use and opportunities for county road departments.
