Subject: CAC Recommendations Re Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sequestration Goals

County Commissioners and City Council,
At the Climate Action Committee's (CAC) December 12, 2023 meeting it adopted a motion recommending that that the City Council and BoCC set two new targets for increasing carbon sequestration
in the county, and a motion recommending that the City Council and BoCC approve updated greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals based on the latest science. At the CAC's February 13,
2024 meeting, it approved the attached two letters summarizing those recommendations. I am attaching the High Impact Action Analysis Summary as well, which is referred to in the Emissions
letter.
We are planning to present to the BOCC next Monday regarding these goals, and we are planning on scheduling a presentation to the City Council after that.
