Greetings,
We are writing to invite you to participate in a work group on Ecosystem Services Markets that the Washington Department of Natural Resources is putting together. In its 2023 legislative
session, the Washington State Legislature directed DNR to establish a work group to explore ways DNR can generate revenue through carbon offset markets and other ecosystem services
markets, while achieving greenhouse gas emission reductions and removal or enhancing other ecosystem services.
Entering the carbon market arena has great potential for DNR to pursue new revenue streams for trust beneficiaries. Your participation in this work group would provide a valuable perspective
on the interests of trust beneficiaries and play a crucial role in the success of this project.
The work group will approximately 6 times from April 2024 - June 2025. Meetings will be held remotely and will be 3 hours. Members will be asked to actively participate in each meeting,
and to prepare for each meeting, for example by developing ideas for approaches or reviewing notes or summary information provided at the previous meeting.
If someone from your group is interested and available to participate, please sign up on the Boards and Commissions page <https://www.dnr.wa.gov/about/boards-and-councils> of DNR’s
website by filling out an application for the “Ecosystem Services Work Group” (Feel free to skip the section about your social media). Additional information about the project can be
found on this page <https://www.dnr.wa.gov/about/boards-and-councils/ecosystem-services-work-group> .
Please let us know if you have any questions and we look forward to the possibility of working together. We are hoping to get participants signed up by March 11.
Sincerely,
Brianna McTeague
