BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR AGENDA REQUEST
TO: Board of County Commissioners
FROM: Mark McCauley,County Administrator
DATE: March 4,2024
SUBJECT: Discussion Regarding the Recruitment of Healthier Together Task Force Members
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
As part of broadening participation and creating geographic equity, the Healthier Together Steering
Committee decided to create a task for to consider alternate locations and construction methods for the
proposed aquatic center, among other potential topics.
The task force is to be comprised of two members from each commissioner district and two at large
members to be appointed by the Jefferson Aquatic Coalition.
ANALYSIS:
There have been some discussions regarding the recruitment and selection of these task force members.
Selection criteria was discussed at yesterday's Steering Committee meeting that will be used to help
decide who to appoint.
The question at hand to be answered today, however, is the method to be used in finding, evaluating and
selecting BOCC district task force members. Potential methods include:
• Conduct an outreach effort announcing the opportunity, specifying the criteria for selection,
describing the work to be done and deliverables, and a rough time table for meetings and project
completion.Take nominations and select the members.
• Rely on commissioner knowledge of people in the community interested in the project and
meeting the criteria for selection.
• Other methods that might surface during the discussion.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact other than staff time involved in creating the task force and facilitating its work.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board of County Commissioners discuss the recruitment and selection alternatives and select one
to be used in staffing the task force.
