Commissioners and staff,
I must be dreaming. Did I just hear you say some more completely disconnected stuff?
While I agree that the choices you make for the TF should have a broad range of relevant expertise and connections to the community, you went too far with at least one idea. Are you
seriously saying that only contractors who specialize in building pools are qualified to serve on the TF as the construction liaison? That is a vanishingly slim collection of people
and none of them live in JeffCo. What an absolute joke! ANY competent contractor is skilled to read a blueprint and ask for advice from industry professionals and manufacturers to help
them understand what they do not specialize in, especially for the purposes of this TF. We are not talking about building a rocket ship, it is just a pool and this TF will not be putting
shovels to dirt so their involvement is merely advisory in nature. By this logic, nobody could possibly ever ascend to another profession or learn new skills. Are we all born congresspeople?
That is certainly NOT the case! We learn and grow into it with the guidance of our mentors and with honest feedback from the people around us.
Here we go again with the disproportionate geographical representation for the pool task force. Explain to me why JAC should get 2 or even 3(!) members of the TF, a full half of what
the district reps will have. This, after JAC has had a seat at the table all along and the residents of the county have not. If JAC wants to do all the fundraising and build whatever
they want, then let them do that without taxpayer dollars. If you continue to be oblivious to the repeated admonishments from the residents then I am quite convinced that the goal here
is to kill any hope of ever producing a pool.
No, the TF should not report to the steering committee. The SC no longer exists and while it did it only produced garbage. The SC is disconnected, disproportionate, negligent, deceptive
and defunct. They are an unproductive and extinct relic of what could have been a prosperous outcome.
At this point, I am losing all hope that you have any intent to do what it takes to yield anything actionable or passable by the voters. All I have seen is willful blinders and deliberate
oblivion. I am deeply disappointed with the continued obfuscation, absence of due diligence, disturbing dismissal of constructive feedback, and utter lack of reception for the concerns
of the taxpayers who pay your wages.
I am going to cut the junior commissioner some slack because she has not suffered the same breadth or depth of mania as her seatmate(s). Despite her short tenure in that office, she
has said the right things, expressed the right concerns, asked the right questions. The rest of you should know better and do better. You have both been in that office long enough to
deliver more sound expressions of judgement and public service. I hope you begin to take cues from your junior seatmate and follow her lead because she is the only one of you who is
reading this whole issue correctly and she has exhibited the spinal fortitude to stand up for the right outcome. She needs your support and concurrence, not your waffling, not your
unyielding and rigid adherence to a dead concept. WE need you to make wise choices and do the right thing.
