ENGINEER—JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
|SALARY & BENEFITS
The Engineer will be hired at a II, III, or IV level, depending on qualifications and experience.
PAY RANGE
• Engineer II: $6,380—$7,625/month DOE
• Engineer III: $7,212—$8,619/month DOE
• Engineer IV: $7,573—$9,047/month DOE

|THE COMMUNITY
Jefferson County, WA extends across the Olympic Peninsula from the Pacific Coast to the waterways of Puget
Sound. There are about 30,000 residents in the County, with most living in the vibrant City of Port Townsend
and in community centers like Port Hadlock, Chimacum, Quilcene and Port Ludlow.
For nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts, national parks and the Strait of Juan de Fuca are in our own
backyard. Art and cultural activities and festivals run throughout the year: there are jazz and blues festivals,
The Wooden Boat Festival, writer’s conferences and monthly art gallery walks. Many local organic farms pro-
vide fresh produce to Farmer’s Markets that run from May—November. Our East County communities are
only 2 hours from the Cities of Seattle and Olympia and 3 hours from Victoria, BC via highway and ferry.
|THE POSITION
Public Works Engineers apply professional and technical expertise to deliver capital improvement projects
including wastewater facilities, roads, trails, bridges, and stormwater infrastructure. Duties include develop-
ment of plans, specifications and estimates, legal and technical research, consultant and grant management,
and construction management and inspection. A working knowledge of federal, state and county policies and
regulations is highly desirable.
