HomeMy WebLinkAboutADVISORY REAPPOINTMENT - AS Consent Agenda JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS To: Board of County Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator From: Josh D. Peters, Community Development Director Joel Peterson, Associate Planner Date: March 11, 2024 Subject: Planning Commission District 1 Re-appointment of Ahren Stroming STATEMENT OF ISSUE: On October 23, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) appointed Ahren Stroming to a District 1 seat, filling the last five months of an unexpired term. Mr. Stroming's first Planning Commission meeting was on November 1, 2023. Per the Board action on October 23, 2023, Mr. Stroming is eligible for reappointment. Commissioner Stroming has indicated that he would like to continue serving for another term. The Department of Community Development (DCD) recommends that this Planning Commission member be reappointed for a new term. ANALYSIS The Planning Commission by-laws specify that when a vacated seat is filled, the appointee serves out the remainder of the term and is then eligible for reappointment. The Board anticipated reappointing Mr. Stroming in October to a full 4-year term, which would run from March 17, 2024 through March 16, 2028. FISCAL IMPACT/COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no fiscal impact to the County's General Fund for re-appointing a member to serve on the Planning Commission(PC). The 2024 DC and PC budgets are based on nine (9) PC members and this appointee would serve as part of that group. RECOMMENDATION: DCD recommends that the Board reappoint Planning Commission member Ahren Stroming of District 1 to the Planning Commission for a full 4-year term, which would run from March 17, 2024 through March 16, 2028.
