Subject: Solid Waste Transfer Station Self-Haul Hours
Statement of Issue: Beginning April 2, 2024, Public Works would like to increase
operational hours for self-haul customers at the transfer station by 3 hours per week and
at the Quilcene drop box by 2 hours per week with consolidation of the Quilcene drop box
operating days as shown in the below table:

Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's £t Con's: The Public Works Solid Waste Division staffing level
has improved and new staff will be trained at a level that will allow for additional self-haul
customer service hours.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: No budget impact.
Recommendation: Per JCC 8.10.060, "The solid waste transfer station, Quilcene drop box
site, and recycle center hours of operation shall be set by the director of public works with
approval by the board of county commissioners." Public Works requests approval of the
revised transfer station and Quilcene drop box hours of operation.
