Hey Commissioners…I’ve been trying to send this email to you but it keeps saying my email is blocked. I’m guessing the problem is that I’ve been sending it to as a group email so I’m going to try to send this to just you two to see if it works. _______ Hello Housing Advocates and Organizations, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Cameron, and I am reaching out on behalf of Usawa Consulting, an equity and inclusion business dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression. We provide consulting, training, and facilitation services for individuals, communities, and organizations interested in promoting equity and inclusion. In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, we are embarking on a crucial initiative to address the barriers and challenges faced by underserved and under-represented communities in accessing affordable housing. We are organizing a survey and Community Listening Circle with the goal of fostering a collaborative dialogue that amplifies marginalized voices and experiences, while also addressing the pressing concerns and barriers that exist within our local housing landscape. We believe that your organization or institution’s insights and expertise are invaluable to this process. As such, we invite you to participate in this project by sharing any relevant resources or data that may assist in our collective efforts. Specifically, we welcome: * Resources and information sharing: We encourage you to provide information on the resources and services your organization offers to assist individuals in accessing affordable housing. * Previous survey data: If your organization has conducted surveys or collected data on housing-related challenges faced by marginalized communities, we would greatly appreciate your insights and findings. * Organization concerns and questions: We are keen to understand any pressing concerns or barriers that your organization encounters when connecting marginalized individuals to housing and resources. Additionally, if there are specific questions your organization would like addressed during the survey, please do not hesitate to share them with us. We will be hosting a Zoom call on April 1st (1:00 pm-2:30 pm) to hear from you and other housing-oriented organizations and institutions. This call will provide an opportunity for you to share your input and insights for the survey. If you represent a housing advocate or organization and would like to participate in the April 1st Zoom meeting, please let us know. If you are unable to attend the Zoom call, please feel free to reach out to us directly via email or phone to provide your input. It's important to note that the Community Listening Circle will be a space for community members to directly engage, share their perspectives, and connect with one another. This platform is designed to amplify the voices and experiences of marginalized individuals within our community, providing them with an opportunity to express their concerns and contribute to the dialogue surrounding affordable housing. The meeting on April 1st is specifically designed for housing advocates and organizations to share their input for the survey, whereas the Community Listening Circle will focus on facilitating community-driven discussions. Furthermore, we are currently seeking a suitable venue to host the Community Listening Circle in person (to happen early to mid-Summer). If your organization is able to provide a space for this purpose, or if you have any recommendations for potential venues, we would be grateful for your assistance. Your participation in this initiative is instrumental in advancing our collective efforts to promote equity and accessibility in housing. Together, we can create positive change and foster a more inclusive community for all. If you have any questions, or would like to connect more deeply, please feel free to reach out to me directly at cameron@usawaconsulting.com <mailto:cameron@usawaconsulting.com> . We look forward to your involvement in this important endeavor. Thank you for your attention and consideration.
