RECOMPETE and outreach to individuals currently not in the workforce

Erik, the researcher a few of us met with last week for lunch at Peninsula College, developed a very simple survey to obtain information from those individuals that are the focus of
the joint Clallam and Jefferson Counties RECOMPETE Application. Below is the survey link – a few quick questions – that Erik is asking that we share with folks and that it be shared

Last fall the two counties of Clallam and Jefferson, area tribes, Peninsula college, and economic development councils from Clallam and Jefferson and the North Olympic Development Council
worked as a group to write an application to a grant program called the Recompete Pilot Program. We found out in late December that we were selected as one of 22 finalists. This group
has expanded to include representation from our Ports and Cities and some of our hardworking social service agencies like the YMCA, collectively this is the North Olympic Peninsula
Recompete Coalition (NOPRC). We are now hard at work trying to prepare a second application which is due in late April.

a new federal program developed by the Biden-Harris administration to invest in the most underserved communities across our country with a very large amount of flexible money. The goal
is to increase the number of people in our north Olympic region who have good jobs that can feed a family and keep them housed, jobs that give them a future. The funding can be used
to support people with getting the training they need, with help managing transportation issues, childcare, and legal barriers. It can also be used to help small businesses grow, existing
industries diversify, and communities build infrastructure needed to have business locally. This program is innovative and the coordinators at the Economic Development Administration
are providing a lot of support to all of the finalists with the goal of transforming the way that the federal government invests in and supports those who need it the most.
