SUBJECT: Approval of a Public Hearing Notice: An Ordinance Adopting Rules for the
Adoption of Ordinances, Resolutions and Motions in Jefferson County
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The Board of County Commissioners held a workshop on March 18, 2024 to discuss a proposed
ordinance. In that workshop the Board directed staff to prepare a public hearing notice, which is
attached. If the Board approves the publication of the hearing notice the hearing will take place on
Monday, April 8 h at 11:00 am in the Board Chambers in the County Courthouse.
ANALYSIS:
The proposed ordinance, if adopted, would establish rules for county staff governing the adoption of
ordinances, resolutions and motions. This would help improve consistency, efficiency and
transparency of Jefferson County's government.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This request has no identifiable fiscal impact although efficiency would be improved through the use of a
common set of rules.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the attached hearing notice for publication.

Adopting Rules for the Adoption of Ordinances, Resolutions, and Motions in Jefferson County
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing is scheduled by the Jefferson County Board of
Commissioners for MONDAY,April 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Chambers,
County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368.Notice of said hearing is to be
published in the official newspaper of Jefferson County.
This hearing is to discuss a proposed ordinance adopting rules for the adoption of ordinances,
resolutions and motions. Said rules are designed to improve the consistency, efficiency and
transparency of Jefferson County's government.
