HomeMy WebLinkAboutWorkshop re Shelter Closure JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORKSHOP AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners Mark McCauley, County Administrator FROM: Greg Brotherton, Commissioner District No. 3 DATE: March 25, 2024 SUBJECT: Workshop -Emergency Shelter STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Emergency Shelter at the American Legion facility in downtown Port Townsend traditionally closes every year as warmer weather.arrives. This year, the shelter was scheduled to close at the end of March. The closure date has been extended to April 30t'. In addition, it appears as though the shelter will not be available this coming fall and winter. The County needs to consider how to address the closure. ANALYSIS: This workshop will discuss next steps for the County related to the closure of the Emergency Shelter at the American Legion. FISCAL IMPACT: Unknown. There is potential grant revenue that could be used to offset potential costs. RECOMMENDATION: Listen to presentation, ask any questions, discuss and consider action.
