Update on Fiscal Year 2024 Appropriations – Paige Mellerio, Associate Legislative Director, Finance, Pensions & Intergovernmental Affairs

* The federal government has been operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2024 on October 1, 2023
* Paige Mellerio will provide an update on the status of negotiations on FY 2024 appropriations as well as an outlook for completion
Support for Extension of the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act of 2024 – Seamus Dowdall, Associate Legislative Director, Telecommunications & Technology
*
* In February, NACo held a press conference advocating for the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act of 2024. The legislation would extend funding for the Affordable Connectivity
Program (ACP) through the end of 2024. The program currently is expected to run out of funding by the end of April.
* The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the agency administering the program, announced on February 7th that it would stop accepting new enrollments to the ACP in anticipation
of the program's wind down. The program currently enrolls 23 million households, and it provides a $30 discount off monthly internet service bills for households that meet eligibility
criteria. The program also offers a one-time discount of up to $100 to be applied towards the purchase of a connectivity device.
* NACO staff will provide the latest advocacy updates pertaining to the passage prospects of the ACP Extension Act, and other dynamics at play.

goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively. The program offers solutions to complex procurement needs.Peer-review by public procurement officials ensure that contracts, suppliers,
goods and services are sourced from the best available options and are competitively sourced.
* Elevator, Escalator, Moving Walkways and Lift services are available through a contract with KONE, Inc., led by Maricopa County, AZ in collaboration with Public Promise Procurement.
* New contracts are in development for government recruiting and staffing solutions, and public safety and community resilience.
