The continuation and connecting of communities along the Olympic Discovery Trail is the work of the Peninsula Trails Coalition. Luckily, we have friends to help us with the work! The Bainbridge Island Parks + Trails Foundation <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=42835c5b61&e=d7954f414c> and the North Kitsap Trails Association <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=81281f8a2f&e=d7954f414c> have joined forces with us. The Puget Sound to Pacific Collaborative (PS2P) <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=0da1dedc96&e=d7954f414c> , which will unite our communities in planning a 200-mile multi-use trail from Bainbridge Island, Kingston and Port Townsend ferry docks to La Push's Pacific Coast. The PS2P received the RAISE Grant <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=1cb5741810&e=d7954f414c> last year for planning. The trail will complete the western end of the Great American Rail Trail <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=f13c8cbb57&e=d7954f414c> . The trail will be bikeable and walkable from Washington, D.C. to La Push, Washington. <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=cf222e6d49&e=d7954f414c> Who You Gonna Call? Broom Busters! Do you know what Scotch Broom is? It's an invasive weed that needs eradicating. According to Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/clic k?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=c0c0c64cc4&e=d7954f414c> , Scotch Broom is a class B weed that needs to be stopped. With miles of trails infested with Scotch Broom, how can we get to the root of this problem? Enter Broom Busters! Every winter, this hardworking group of volunteers digs out hundreds of Scotch Broom weeds. They are clearing the way for native plants to grow along our trails. The Port Angeles Waterfront Trail between MP2 and MP4 was closed for repairs and clearing debris on March 25 through March 29. Big thanks for clearing gravel and sand on the trail!
