Together, we nabbed key wins and improved investments for our climate and sustainability. However, a number of bills did not make it past crucial deadlines, but we're poised to ensure they make it past the finish line in 2025. Read the full "2024 Legislative Session Wrap Up blog" on our website to learn more on how our major priorities fared - and how we responded to the elephant in the room, the looming attack on the Climate Commitment Act with I-2117's repeal effort on the ballot this fall. Celebrate this milestone by signing our online birthday card and sharing why the forests of the Northwest matter to you. Your stories are a source of inspiration and a reminder of what we're fighting for. Your signature is a pledge to support forest conservation efforts and to participate in shaping the future of the NWFP. We will be sharing responses with decision makers so they know how important these forests are to people of the region, and to ensure that any amendments to the NWFP retain the original intent and framework. Sign NWFP's B-day card! <https://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=f4d1ce3c0333a28072a4d940cf2542e479a141c7c47d619599faa37a3aa7b7370c4cdaf21cb79bb3495cc1c97db360106e22039527170dbd825f978e8e8f778d> ________________________________ Want to celebrate in person?* Join the Chapter at Ballard Homestead on Saturday, April 13th from 3:30 to 6:30pm for a proper birthday bash to kick off our advocacy on the NWFP with activists and leaders who’ve been working on this plan since day one. Yes. All. Expenses. Paid… In Europe. By Northwest Natural and their friends in the gas industry. Oh, and it's not the first time, either. But the gas industry is desperate to promote false solutions like “renewable” natural gas or RNG as officials become increasingly skeptical about the viability of these “alternative fuels” – even rejecting multiple climate plans from these utilities over the past few months. But of course, that isn’t stopping them - their next trip is scheduled for April 15th. A free trip to Copenhagen sounds pretty great, but not if they hear from their constituents that it's unacceptable to accept a free vacation from a monopoly utility. Tell legislators the PNW deserves better than fossil fuel greenwashing. The Columbia Basin Restoration Initiative (CBRI) aims to restore healthy salmon and steelhead populations by focusing on modernizing infrastructure, boosting local economies, and upholding treaty obligations with Tribal Nations. While the CBRI is solid groundwork for reviving the region's salmon and steelhead, to transform these plans into reality, securing critical funding from Congress for fiscal year 2025 is now imperative. Join us in urging Northwest congressional representatives to commit to funding the Columbia River Basin's restoration and the crucial efforts to revive its salmon and steelhead populations. Take action now! <https://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=f4d1ce3c0333a280cdba6499e947e74ca27becaf41fd6b30f0642c8e90e9d5cc8ac17ff8e2cd476d67e83a4933a3ec06827198bb3b81cb0a> ________________________________ <https://image.emails.sierraclub.org/lib/fe94137277610c7d76/m/1/ea2d8a76-2a4e-46b6-8396-9f4774ea9329.png> With Spring officially here, we've now entered the PNW's annual outdoor time and events season - and environmental advocates are getting together throughout April to ring in the season (and sunsets after 7pm).
