SUBJECT: Workshop: Jefferson County Public Utility District No. 1 (PUD)Request to
Purchase County Property for the Installation of an Electrical Substation
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The PUD approached the County requesting that the County consider selling two parcels it owns where
the PUD wishes to site an electrical substation.
ANALYSIS:
The two parcels in question were acquired using ARPA funds as part of the establishment of the Caswell-
Brown Village. The parcels(parcel numbers 001162001 and 001161001)are highlighted in the attached
map.
These parcels suit the PUD's needs because:
• They are adjacent to PUD power lines
• There is convenient access through the PUD's power line corridor
It appears as though the County could sell parcel 001161001 with no adverse impact to the County.
Selling parcel 001162002,however,could limit any future County effort to build affordable housing on
that and adjacent parcels.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This request has no fiscal impact. Should the Board of Commissioners decide to sell one or more of the
parcels the sale would result in revenue to the County of some amount.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board of County Commissioners conduct the workshop,discuss and provide guidance regarding
whether to sell one or both parcels.
