Grant County Accepts $155.5 Million Price for New Jail
Grant County Commissioners have decided to accept a “guaranteed maximum price” of about $155.55 million for the new Grant County Jail. Marc Seeberger, project manager for general contractors
Lydig Construction, gave commissioners an estimate of the total project cost, one option including administrative offices for the Grant County Sheriff, the other without the offices.

Water Supply Outlook Exceptionally Dry Throughout Washington
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a report on Washington’s water supply, and the outlook is not promising. According to the report, snow drought conditions are severe
in much of Washington. In particular, stations and snow courses have reported record or near record lows for snowpack throughout the northern part of the state.

Whatcom County Announces Steps to Address Fentanyl Crisis
County Executive Satpal Sidhu signed an executive order directing county departments to take over three dozen actions to address the crisis. The announcement follows a resolution passed
by the county council that recognized the fentanyl crisis as an emergency in Whatcom County. Lummi Indian Business Councilmember Nick Lewis spoke at the meeting, saying Whatcom is the
first county to take this stance in such a way.

Ruckelshaus Center: Free Online Workshops
The Ruckelshaus Center is holding free online workshops on applying the findings of the Pathways to Housing Security Project's Final Report of Facilitated Discussions and Recommendations.
You can learn more, and RSVP to an event, below.
Prepared at the request of the Washington State Legislature, the final report provides recommendations that were informed by the participation of hundreds of individuals with knowledge
and experience related to homelessness and housing insecurity.
The upcoming workshops will provide opportunities to delve deeper into specific recommendations and to explore how the report's framework can be used. The workshops will also provide
structure for participants to identify, share, and discuss action ideas.
