SUBJECT: Request to reappoint Cheryl Lowe to serve a 4-year term on the
Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight Committee representing
Habitat Values,through 2028.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Public Health requests that the County Commissioners reappoint Cheryl Lowe to the Conservation Futures
Fund Citizen Oversight Committee (Habitat Values)to serve an additional 4-year term through April 22nd,
2028.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S:
On February 28, 2024 and March 6, 2024, we advertised four vacancies for the Conservation Futures(CF)
Committee, two to represent District 3 and two to represent an Open Interest.Cheryl Lowe submitted her
request to be reappointed on April 10, 2024, representing the Interest"Habitat Values."Ms.Lowe has
served consistently and admirably on the CF committee since November of 2023, and her reappointment
would help maintain continuity and a high level of relevant expertise within the program. Ms.Lowe's
background is with the WSU Extension, the Jefferson Marine Resources Committee, and the Whidbey
Camano Land Trust. Her formal education is in plant ecology and public garden administration.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
There is no fiscal impact to the county's General Fund for reappointing Ms.Lowe to a new 4-year term on
the CF Committee.
RECOMMENDATION:
Public Health requests that the County Commissioners reappoint Cheryl Lowe to serve a 4-year term on
the Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight Committee (Habitat Values)through April 22nd,2028.
