Recommendation, ADVISORY BOARD APPOINTMENT; Jefferson County
Planning Commission, District No. 3 seat; term to expire March 17, 2028, and
ADDITIONAL PUBLIC COMMENT
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
One District No. 3 Planning Commission seat became open March 17, 2024. One applicant,Andrew
Schwartz, responded to the advertisement and inquiries for volunteers for the open District No. 3 Planning
Commission seat on the nine-member Jefferson County Planning Commission. An interview was conducted,
which included Community Development Staff and District No. 3 County Commissioner Greg Brotherton.
Appointment of this Planning Commission seat is made by the full Board. The appointment is for a full four-
year term expiring March 17, 2028.
ANALYSIS:
The nine-member Planning Commission is composed of three representatives for each district. A
representative serves a four-year term. The District No. 3 vacancy was advertised in the County's paper of
record for two editions in March 2024. One application was received from Andrew Schwartz. A successful
interview was conducted April 17, 2024, by Community Development Staff and Commissioner Greg
Brotherton. The process of final selection and appointment to the Planning Commission is made by decision
of the full Board.
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint Andrew Schwartz to the open District No. 3 Planning Commission seat.
