Dear Commissioner Brotherton,
We are reaching out to policymakers, government officials, and political leaders across the nation, seeking your input through a brief 5-10-minute anonymous online survey. This survey
is crucial to understanding the current state of American politics and the viability of proposed reforms, particularly in the context of the pressing issue of political polarization.
The survey is being conducted by the Polarization Research Lab (https://polarizationresearchlab.org/), a non-partisan team of researchers at Dartmouth College, Stanford University,
and the University of Pennsylvania. We will not collect personally identifiable information and will never report your personal data or individual responses.
By participating in this survey, you are contributing to a comprehensive understanding of policymakers, government officials, and political leaders’ perspectives on the state of American
politics. Your input is instrumental in identifying reforms that can potentially garner widespread support among policymakers and the public, with a specific focus on reducing political
polarization. The insights we gather from this survey could significantly influence future policy decisions, paving the way for a more unified country. We will share these insights
with policymakers, journalists, and the general public.
The research team will share an executive summary of the research with participating policymakers once the study is complete. We expect that this summary will be distributed in Summer
2024.
